Alex thinks that Third Grade is more intense and challenging than Second Grade, but she gets more privileges and more responsibility over what she does. Third Grade is also more collaborative, and the math problems are trickier.

This year, some of her favorite books are chapter books (Land of Stories and A Tale of Witchcraft) and comic books like Katie the Catsitter. She enjoys a groovy beat and loud music that starts slow then gets fast, like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Sia, and Jennifer Lopez. Her favorite food this year is spaghetti, sushi (shrimp nigiri), seafood (she discovered crab!), and shave ice (POG, melona, and coconut flavor) with mochi and ice cream at the bottom.

Henry thinks that First Grade is fun. He likes reading and math. At recess, he likes to play soccer and tether ball with his friends.

Henry likes the book All Kinds of Cars and the Narnia series, which he is reading with his dad. One song that he likes is "Home" by Phillip Phillips, which he is also singing in music class. Henry enjoys working with Beyblades and Legos, which were the theme of his birthday party this year. He likes playing Pokemon.
